Pit fired vase

Pit fired vase

£150.00

A unique piece, which has been fired in a disused golf bunker with foraged and reused combustible materials in an exciting and unpredictable outdoor firing process.

Pit firing involves firing the piece for the first time in an electric kiln and then stacking it with others in a hole in the ground with organic combustible materials, a fire is lit on the top and then covered over, the pieces are then painted with the smoke.

This piece was decorated with the smoke from sawdust, used coffee grounds, fruit peel, nut shells, seaweed, and unprocessed lambswool .
